Existence as War

Existence is a state of war- countless battles on my many frontsBut the battlefield inside my conscience has reaped the most fatalities. The front is always moving. Sometimes moving steadily towards good, only to be met by an evil anchored with its heels in the ground, refusing to budge. Evil always outnumbers its opponent. Evil needs no strategy, for Murphy’s law is its greatest ally. Evil relies heavily on momentum in its favor. It senses when its opponent’s morale is low and strikes with unforgiving cruelty. Good wins its share of battles because its motivation is more powerful, more salient. This is what they call the game tug-of-war. What they’ve failed to realize is that it is much more than a simple game. It is the difference between a life well lived, and regret. It’s the difference between a genuine eulogy and a contrived one. It is the difference between heaven and hell. It’s the difference. The battle has no end. Not in my mind, nor in the world. The best we can do is surround ourselves with those angels who want to fight the good fight, and cleanse rid ourselves of those demons who are driven by evil. Pretty simple right? The only problem is every person and thought is dressed as an angel. Very few things inflict evil strictly for the sake of causing pain. We’re all martyrs in our own movements. Be wary of who you rely on. Make sure they’ve conquered enough of their own conscience before they assist you in your own battles. Be the commander in chief of your own war, because at the end of the day both victory and defeat will be met within yourself.
